The SETI Institute is delighted to support the Breakthrough Prize Foundation and the Kahn Academy in promoting the Breakthrough Junior Challenge, an annual, global competition for science and math students to inspire creative thinking about fundamental concepts in the life sciences, physics or mathematics.

"This is an example of how privately-funded initiatives can encourage and promote Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics (STEAM) education and bring the challenge and excitement of competitive sports into the science classroom”  notes Bill Diamond, CEO and President of the SETI Institute.

Students ages 13-to-18 from countries across the globe are invited to create original videos  (up to 10 minutes in length) that bring to life a concept or theory in the life sciences, physics or mathematics. In addition to a $250,000 scholarship award, the Breakthrough Junior Challenge winner will be invited to the Breakthrough Prize awards ceremony in Silicon Valley, where he or she will get to meet with giants of science, technology, media and the arts.

We encourage young scientists everywhere to take up the challenge and go for the gold!
